Quick recap of the playoff games. Once again we saw the Silent Assassins vs another Cliff Francis-led team in Busch Lattes. Busch Lattes came in as the #4 seed and came away with a win in the final seconds vs The Undecided 34-33. A 2-point try where The Undecided did not blitz a soul gave wideout Jeremy Francis all the time in the world to find an open space to secure the victory. In the other 1st round matchup, #6 Pylon pulled off the upset over #3 Outlaws 27-18. The semi- Final match ups were set with #1 Assassins vs #6 Pylon your mom and #2 Heavyweights vs #4 Busch Lattes. In match-up one, the Assassins without QB1 Mike Gerardi and Pylon were in a 0-0 game until about 8 minutes left in the game when the Assassins finally made a QB switch and a tipped pass led to the 1st touchdown of the game, from there the Assassins piled it on with 2 pick 6s from Ryan Womack and another score to seal the deal 25-0. In the other semi-final, in a back and forth game, again it was aJeremy Francis catch with :30 seconds left in front of 3 HW defenders to take the lead 36-30. The defense held on and the Championship game was set. Busch Lattes came out firing in the championship game hitting a deep ball to TK, few plays later on a 4th and goal, they scored the 1st touchdown of the game and took a 7-0 lead. Assassins started off with Cirello at QB again but quickly made the switch to 3rd string QB Rashaun Mathis. Mathis led the team to a touchdown before half and it was 7-6 Busch Lattes at the half. The Assassins captain made some 2nd half adjustments and the Assassins jumped out to a 25-7 lead led by Rashaun Mathis 3 touchdown passes with less than 7 minutes left in the game. However, the Lattes scratched and crawled their way back scoring on back to back big plays on back to back drives to make it 25-21. However, Assassins were able to secure a 1st down and run the clock down to secure their 2nd consecutive championship and became the 1st DCFFL back-to-back champions!

DCFFL Week 3 Predictions, Power Rankings and Awards
By: John Kotsko, Cole Streets, and MJ Telencio
(posted Saturday, September 25, 2021)
Here we are at Week 3 and the week before was quite interesting. The Heavyweights and Busch Lattes are the last two undefeated teams remaining in the league. The Gators have forfeited the reminder of their season and every game they were supposed to play is now a forfeit. There are some new rules in place when it comes to sportsmanship. The warning is now gone and now you will get a 15 yard penalty for arguing. As there was quite a bit of aggressiveness. Also an ejection will warrant a two game suspension and a $10 fine that must be paid before playing again. I also will not be adding more writers to this article. With all that being said, let’s get to the games.
Pylon vs Heavyweights, 9 AM Field 1
Pylon is coming off a loss to Pain Train. Heavyweights took both games last week as they knocked off the Outlaws and the Assassins. Pylon wideout Jarod Genasevich has 10 catches and four touchdowns. Heavyweights QB Nick Dye has five touchdown passes on the season. Heavyweights are looking to build on their momentum from last week’s doubleheader. Pylon is looking to bounce back after a loss last week.
Kotsko’s Prediction: Heavyweights 28 Pylon 14
Cole’s Prediction: Heavyweights 30 Pylon 13
MJ’s Prediction: Heavyweights 42 Pylon 0
Undecided Outlaws vs Venomous Threats, 9 AM Field 2
The Outlaws are coming off a loss to the Heavyweights. Venomous Threats are coming off a loss to the Underdawgs. Outlaws wideout Kyle Jenkins has five catches and two touchdowns. Venomous Threats wideout Will Johnson has six catches and a touchdown. Both teams are looking to bounce back after blowout losses last week. Which team will bounce back?
Kotsko’s Prediction: Outlaws 35 Venomous Threats 6
Cole’s Prediction: Outlaws 32 Venomous Threats 6
MJ’s Prediction: Outlaws 32 Venomous Threats 0
Underdawgs vs Silent Assassins, 10:15 AM Field 1
Underdawgs are coming off a win over Venomous Threats. The Assassins are coming off a loss to the Heavyweights. Underdawgs QB Jalen Stockton is an excellent combination of speed and throwing on the run. He has three touchdown passes and four rushing touchdowns. The Assassins’ John Hooper has three sacks on the season. The Underdawgs have been a pleasant surprise to start the season but will they prove to the rest of the league that they can play with the best as they take on the two-time defending champs
Kotsko’s Prediction: Assassins 35 Underdawgs 7
Cole’s Prediction: Assassins 28 Underdawgs 6
MJ’s Prediction: Assassins 44 Underdawgs 12
Grandma’s Paddle vs Pain Train, 10:15 AM Field 2
Grandma’s Paddle are coming off a forfeit win over the Gators. Pain Train are coming off a split of a DH. They lost to Busch Lattes in Overtime and defeated Pylon. Grandma’s Paddle’s Dante Weldon has two catches on the season. Pain Train’s Parker Doerr has five interceptions on the season. Pain Train got a much needed win over rival Pylon after a tough overtime loss to Busch Lattes and a disappointing opening day loss to the Underdawgs. Grandma’s Paddle got a win via forfeit and get to 2-1 on the season.

Week 6 DCFFL Breakdown and Midseason Report
By: John Kotsko and Wes Pettebone
(posted Saturday, October 31, 2020)
We are officially at the halfway mark of the season. Rosters are finalized and several teams are going for their playoff push while several teams are looking to play spoiler. The Assassins remain the league’s last undefeated team. It should be an interesting second half with several teams looking to get the two first round byes. With that let’s get into the midseason report and game previews.
Midseason Report
Center of Attention
Record: (0-6)
Avg. points per game: 8.8
Avg. points scored on per game: 30.1
Combined OPP record: 19-12
Remaining schedule: BL, SA, PYM, BB
New to the DCFFL, Tony Nyzio's team was an unknown. They have a few bright spots on the team in Archibald, Dame, Getz, and Hall. Coach Nyzio came in with high expectations and called out some other coaches during the coaches meeting but with the worst scoring offense in the league, Center of Attention has the attention of nobody at this point. Look for COA to secure their first win of the season week 9 or 10. They are out of playoff contention.
Backyard Bullies
Record: 0-5
Avg. points Per game: 12.4
Avg. points scored on per game: 37.6
Combined OPP record: 19-7
Remaining schedule: PYM, WBK, HW, BL, COA
Backyard Bullies is back for second season under a new name. Struggling to get guys week in and week out has made it difficult for the Bullies to find their first win. They have had a different roster almost every week. Props to Coach Vanderlick for not having to forfeit a game this year but may have to change that name to the Backyard Shenanigans. Bullies are coming off one of their best performances of the year vs Undecided. They play a beat up Pylon team this week but will that be enough? Look for Bullies vs COA in the final week to be the toilet bowl!
Wilkes-Barre Kings
Record: (1-4)
Avg. points per game: 12.4
Avg. points scored on per game: 25
Combined OPP record: 12-13
Remaining Schedule: HW, BB, Panthers, SA, OL
Another new team to the DCFFL. The Kings are led by Jay Garcia Jr and Tre Witta K but Coach Casas and the Kings have struggled early on the offensive side of the ball. Coach Casas came into the season having his team ready with practices and conditioning prior to and always has his full team there on game day but the Kings look more like the Queens thus far. They have one of the toughest schedules remaining so don't bet on WBK to make the playoffs this year.
Pylon Your Mom
Record: (1-4)
Avg. points per game: 14.4
Avg. points scored on per game: 27.8
Combined OPP record: 15-11
Remaining schedule:BB, HW, PT, COA, TU
A long time veteran team of the league has struggled miserably this season. They have had a hard time of putting 2 halves of football together. Have showed signs of sticking with the top teams but have struggled at the QB position and with injuries. Jarod Genasevich ranks top 5 in the league in sacks is the bright spot for this team. Do they have enough to make a playoff run or will Pylon Your Mom walk away with just the best team name in the league?
Panthers
Record: (3-3)
Avg. points per game: 18.3
Avg. points scored on per game: 11.8
Combined OPP record: 13-19
Remaining schedule: SA, OL, WBK, HW
Panthers started off the season with a 20-0 loss however since have been in every game and are coming into week 6 on a 2 game winning streak. Having played one of the easiest schedule to this point, are they contenders or pretenders? Malik Kaleta ranks second in league with 6 interceptions. Ammons and Schmitz respectively have 18 receptions each ranking them in the top 5. Panthers have a tough schedule outside the Kings to end the season, I believe they will need to win 2 of the 4 to be playoff contenders. Can the Panthers defense who is tied with only letting up 11.8 points per game have what it takes to stop the leading league scoring offenses in the Assassins and Outlaws the next two weeks? Nonetheless, as a new team with no veteran players, the Panthers have come in loud and proud!
Busch Lattes
Record: (3-2)
Avg. points per game: 24.6
Avg. points scored on per game: 15.4
Combined OPP record: 14-12
Remaining schedule: TU, BB, PT, OL
Coach Cliff Francis took his brothers and kept the Busch Lattes alive this season, leaving Nick Dye and Russ Monroe to fend for themselves. In week 1 albeit some controversy, Nick and Russ got the first laugh with a 26-25 victory. But the Lattes are a top playoff contender, having had to start 3 different QBs this year, they have given fits to every team this year with one of the best O-lines in the league. They don't make many mistakes having only thrown 3 total INTs as a team. Jeremy Francis continues to be a top wideout in the league ranking 3rd in receptions this year (21). In just 3 games this season, QB Justin Francis has 9 total TDs and only 1 INT. If Justin can return for the Lattes, they will be hard to beat here on out. But watch out for Sef Hall if he continues to run the gun for the Lattes.
Outlaws

A new team that everyone was excited to see in this league this year by the names of players alone. Any Wyoming Valley sports enthusiast would recognize all of them. Coach Pop Williams started his off season by trading Gerrys Pizza, Skittles, and a case of 4 Loko for Lucky Williams and Nathan Bowden. They came right out the gate vs defending champs and former team of Lucky and Nathan; The Silent Assassins, losing 29-14. They rattled off 3 straight wins with scoring over 40 points twice but fell last week 19-18 to the Heavyweights that had stellar reffing throughout the game. The Outlaws are a title contender come playoff time. They boast the second best scoring offense and top defense. They are led by QB Lucky Williams, 18 total touchdowns and leads the league in rushing touchdowns and is top 5 in passing touchdowns. Lucky, is front runner for Offensive POY and League MVP. The defense is anchored by Breon Williams and his 10 sacks along with Frank Carter and his 5 interceptions. Look for the week 10 matchup vs. Busch Lattes to have serious playoff implications.

John Kotsko's team under his 69th different team name for DCFFL has been a pleasant surprise this year, starting off the season 4-0 before getting trounced by the Heavyweights 48-6. However, John Kotsko and his team have been riding the Pain Train to Coach Kotsko's best record in DCFFL history. Pain Train is led by the Caladie brothers. Anthony is ranked top 5 in passing TDs, rushing TDs, and completion %. Keep an eye out on him for OPOY or possibly MVP if Pain Train can continue its winning ways. Brett Caladie leads the league in receptions with 28 and ranks third in touchdowns with 8 and leads the league with 9 interceptions. Another player who will be vying for some awards at the end of the year. BUT is Pain Train for real or have they benefited off having the easiest schedule to date with a combined opponent record of 8-19? They come off a bye week vs the Silent Assassins and the road to a playoff berth does not get any easier for them. They will have to face Pylon, Busch Lattes, Outlaws, and the Undecided. Their Week 7 match up vs Pylon or week 10 vs The Undecided will determine their playoff fate.
The Undecided

A newbie team who has silently built up a 4-1 record and has them sitting in 2nd place. The question remains, are they for real or like Pain Train, have they benefited from an easy schedule? That is yet to be DECIDED! That schedule heats up though the second half as they face Outlaws, Assassins, Lattes, Pylon, and Pain Train. Undecided are led by their QB Jamie Calloway who leads league with 16 touchdown passes. Wideouts Larry Anderscavage and Dajon Rush are their other playmakers, both are ranked in the top 5 in league in receptions. Anderscavage leads the league with 10 touchdown receptions. They boast the top defensive scoring D in the league letting up only 11.8 points per game and have a league leading 6 fumble recoveries. Can they hold Outlaws and Assassins to those standards? We will find out the next 2 weeks. Look for the matchup vs Busch Lattes to have serious playoff implications.

Nick Dye and company left Busch Lattes, traded his soul for former Assassin Bobby Parada and the Heavyweights were formed! By far the biggest team pound for pound in the league. The Heavyweights come in with the third ranked scoring offense behind Nick Dye's 13 touchdown passes, 7 to Bobby Parada. Their only loss was week 2 to the Assassins 29-20. They have a top defense led by Craig Nillson (10 sacks) and Ryan Miscavage (6) and a defense that has a league leading 5 defensive touchdowns. Russ Monroe is always a threat for them along with newcomer Dave Parsnik. In what most were saying the game of the year last week, the Heavyweights down 12-0 at halftime made the improbable comeback behind Dye and Miscavage's performances to win 19-18 vs the Outlaws. Look for the Heavyweights to roll through the second half of the season and secure a bye come playoff time.
Silent Assassins
Record: (5-0)
Avg. points per game: 30.6
Avg. points scored on per game: 14
Combined OPP record: 11-14
Remaining schedule: Panthers, PT, COA, TU, WBK
Assassins came in as the defending champs and pretty much have lived up to the hype. Despite winning 2 games with their back up QB, the Assassin boast the top offensive scoring team averaging 30.6 points a game. They started off the season with Outlaws and Heavyweights which was no easy task but came out with both wins. The offense is led by reigning MVP Vinnie Cirello ( 9 touchdowns, 24 receptions) and OROY Mike Gerardi has only seen action in 3 games this year and does not look like his MVP self thus far. The defense has been rock solid. They have 2 of the top 5 sack leaders in Ryan Waters (12), Dean Lutinski (8) and the old man, Nick Budzyn also has 6 sacks.. The defense leads the league in team sacks (29) and interceptions (15). Assassins are a solid team but as we saw last week, if you can take advantage of their bad plays, an upset is brewing. Can the Assassins keep the undefeated season in tact? Look for Assassins to continue to gain confidence and chemistry and secure a bye in the playoffs.

Record: 0-5

(posted Wednesday, October 14, 2020)
Three weeks into the season and only two teams remain undefeated. If you would have guessed at the beginning of the season that one of them would have been Pain Train, I might have called you crazy. The Assassins being undefeated is not a surprise to anyone but their schedule has been tough. They’ve played the Outlaws, Dye’s Team and Pylon to start the season. With six teams making the playoffs, the teams at 1-2 and 0-3 are still mathematically in the playoff race with seven weeks left but will need to pull off some upsets over the next few weeks to stay in the race. Two weeks into the season and it’s been really interesting at say the least. For some teams, this week is a must win. For some, it will be measuring stick of how good they will be. With all that being said, let’s get to the games.
Pylon at Silent Assassins -- 9 AM Field 1
Pylon is coming off a loss to Busch Lattes. The Assassins are coming off a victory over Dye’s Team. The Assassins are undefeated and won their game last week despite missing their starting QB and only completing two passes. The Assassins’ Anthony Maurent had two rushing touchdowns last week in the victory. Pylon QB Scott Dobash has throw three touchdown passes and has a rushing touchdown. The Assassins are looking to stay unbeaten against a rival they’ve faced in the postseason two years in a row. Pylon had a setback last week and are looking to rebound.
Prediction: Assassins 35 Pylon 8
Panthers at Backyard Bullies -- 9 AM Field 2
The Panthers are coming off a tough loss to Pain Train. The Bullies are coming off a loss to the Outlaws. The Panthers played much better than a week ago taking it to the last play against Pain Train. Malik Kaleta had two interceptions last week. It was another tough week for the Backyard Bullies, falling to the Outlaws. Laqwon Miles has two touchdown passes and has a rushing touchdown. Both teams are looking for their first win of the season and it’ll be an interesting one to say the least.
Prediction: Panthers 34 Backyard Bullies 20
WB Kings at Pain Train -- 10:30 AM Field 1
The Kings are coming off a loss to The Undecided. Pain Train is coming off a victory over the Panthers. The Kings have struggled offensively in their first two games. The Kings Tre Wittak has thrown a touchdown pass and also has a rushing touchdown. Pain Train is off to a surprising 3-0 starting with help from Brett Caladie who has 23 catches and six touchdowns. On defense, he has eight interceptions and a fumble recovery. For the Kings, this is a must win if they want a chance at the playoffs. Pain Train is undefeated at this point but have been in close games. This is a must win for them cause the schedule gets harder.
Prediction: Pain Train 24 WB Kings 18
Busch Lattes at Panthers -- 10:30 AM Field 2
Busch Lattes are coming off a win over Pylon. The Panthers are playing their second game of the day. Busch Lattes receiver Jeremy Francis has 12 catches and a touchdown with one interception on defense. The Panthers’ Darren Boseman has four catches and a touchdown. Busch Lattes are looking for their second straight win and are facing off against a Panthers team that’s playing their second game of the day.
Prediction: Busch Lattes 35 Panthers 12

Returning to Football

It’s been a long time since the Silent Assassins won the Super Bowl and a lot has changed since then. However, you guys know everything that has happened in 2020. The league has almost doubled this year from last year. We had five teams last year and now we are at 11 teams. In this article, we will be discussing all 11 teams.
Silent Assassins
The Assassins enter as defending Super Bowl champions. They return several key components to their championship team including QB and rookie of the year Mike Gerardi, League MVP and Offensive Player of the year Vinnie Cirello, DB/WR Eric Kerr. They brought back Ryan Womack, Anthony Maurent and John Hooper. They brought Rashaun Mathis and Matt Wade from the Misfits. Also brought in some newcomers to the mix that Carlo has high hopes for. Carlo talking about his expectations of this season. “Our expectations is to defend our championship from last year. We return our core of guys who swept the awards last year. I’m excited this season with the addition of new teams and seems like more competition overall so we are hungry for the challenge and can’t wait”
Nick Dye’s Team
Dye’s Team is led by Nick Dye and will be the team’s starting QB. They return several players that played on Team Truly such as Craig Nilsson, MJ Telencio, and Russ Monroe. Dye’s expectations on the season “If you’re not first, you’re last.”
Busch Lattes
Busch Lattes is a team split from Team Truly and Cliff Francis leads the team. Their offense will led by brothers Justin and Jeremy Francis. They also added Donnell Williams to the mix. The team looks to have a good line mixed with a playmaker wideout.
Pylon
Pylon returns after making the playoffs last season. They return their core in Tyler Russell, Scott Dobash, Nick Taylor, Josh Salvisburg and Jarod Genesevich. Team captain Josh Salvisburg on his expectations of Pylon: “We want to make the playoffs and get to the Super Bowl. We have one ring already and believe we can win another.”
Pain Train
Another year, another name change for John Kotsko’s team. He had a tough challenge of rebuilding a team that made the playoffs a year ago. From that team, he only returns three players in himself, Brett Caladie and Dylan Kostak. He does have several players familiar to the league in Brett Rooney, Anthony Caladie, John Hodge and Matt Cragle. My thoughts on the team as a whole: “We need to gel early if we want to play relevant football in November and December”
Center of Attention
CoA is captained by Tony Nyzio who played for the Misfits last season. CoA has a few veterans in Nick Faux, Jacob Devlin, and Shawn Austin, whom CoA is expecting big things from. Tony’s expectations of this season: “We’re going for the championship.”
Backyard Bullies
The Bullies are led by Tristen Vanderlick who captained the Misfits last season. They return only three players from the Misfits in Valerie Bott, Vanderlick and Will Johnson. They brought in a player for their line who is familiar to the league in Patrick Pilch. Tristenns expectations are as follows: “To be better than last year! We have a line and we have something to prove”
Outlaws
The Outlaws are a new team but they might one of the more experienced new teams this season. Veterans that the Outlaws will rely on are Lucky Williams, Nate Bowden and Breon Phillips. Captain Rasheed Williams is another player to look out for. Williams expectation for the season is to win the championship with the best record and defense.
Panthers
The Panthers are a new team this season captained by Michael Clark. Key contributors to the team include Dev Robbins, Malik Kaleta, Clark, Damon Taylor, and Cody Schmitz. Clark says the strength of their team looks to be their defense. His expectations of the season are to make the playoffs in their first year.
Wilkes-Barre Kings
The Kings are one of four new teams playing this season. They do have two experienced players on their roster in Rashaun Jackson and Dijon Townes. Talking to team captain Luis Casas, his expectations were “first and foremost, we want to come and play the game. Everyone’s main focus is to win and be the best we can be on the field and enjoy doing it.”
The Undecided
The Undecided are another new team this season. Looking at their roster, they don’t have a single player that has played in the league. Players that I’m interested to see are Larry Anderscavage, Dajon Rush and Devon Weidman. This group of unknowns will look to get some victories in their first season.
