The Diamond City Regional Spelling Bee is a collaborative with Scripps to send a young student from our area to the Washington, D.C. region to compete in the national competition.
Qualifying for 4th Annual Diamond City Regional Spelling Bee is Underway
The 4th Annual Diamond City Regional Spelling Bee will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at the Wilkes-Barre Area High School. To date, 99 schools are registered to compete in the semi-final, which is an online competition. From there, the top 70 (plus ties) spellers will advance to the regional final, where the winner moves on to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland.
Third Year an Even Bigger SuccessThe 3rd Annual Diamond City Regional Spelling Bee was held Sunday at the Wilkes-Barre Area High School with 66 competitors from all over Northeastern Pennsylvania and parts of New Jersey.
Aditya Aiyer of Clinton Township (NJ) Middle School won the event with the championship word of merganser. Aiyer will represent our region in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in the Baltimore area at the end of May. The event was organized by Diamond City Sports and sponsored by The Citizens' Voice. Year Two in the BooksIt was a terrific event for the 2nd Annual Diamond City Regional Spelling Bee! Congratulations to Jianna Marina of Clinton Township (NJ) Middle School on her win! Jianna will represent our region in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in the Baltimore area at the end of May.

Our First Champion CrownedIt was a great inaugural event for the Diamond City Regional Spelling Bee! Congratulations to Sindura Sridhar of Wilson Southern Middle School in Reading for her win! Sindura will represent our region in the Scripps National Spelling Bee!

Diamond City Sports is committed to providing affordable recreational activities for children, youth, and adults alike while promoting the ideals of community and personal responsibility, dedication, sportsmanship, and camaraderie in a safe, positive environment. Athletics help our participants grow, learn, and enjoy themselves while they develop physical, intellectual, and personal skills through competition, collaboration, and fair play. We provide structured programs to teach and facilitate athletic competition in a fun, safe, and positive way for all involved. Our athletes help to raise much needed funds for local individuals and local and national charitable organizations to promote community awareness and responsibility.
